Working holiday visas (subclass 417/462)

 1. Working holiday visa

 

Young people from certain countries aged 18 to 30 to visit Australia for up to 12 months for a working holiday.

 

Working holiday visa holders are able to live, holiday and work in Australia for up to 12 months, however they cannot work for more than six (6) months with each employer.

   

Passport holders from Belgium, Canada, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan and United Kingdom only are eligible:

 

  • be aged between 18 and 30 years (and have not turned 31) at the time of application;
  • must meet health and character requirements;
  • must apply from outside Australia;
  • in some instances applicants can apply for a 2nd working holiday visa from within Australia.

2. Work and holiday visa 

 

Young and tertiary educated people from certain countries aged 18 to 30 to visit Australia for up to 12 months for a working holiday.

  Work and holiday visa holders are able to live and work in Australia for up to 12 months, however they cannot work for more than six (6) months with each employer.

   
Passport holders from Chile, Thailand, Turkey and the United States of America only are eligible and must also meet the following requirements: 

 

  • be aged 18 to 30 years (and have not turned 31) at the time of application;
  • in most cases must have formal tertiary education qualifications and provide a letter of support from an approved Government organisation;
  • meet health and character requirements;
  • apply from outside Australia.
